I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), dedicated to advancing sustainable coastal protection solutions through innovative research and multidisciplinary collaboration. My expertise lies in exploring fluid-vegetation interactions, wave attenuation by coastal vegetation, and integrating nature-based solutions with traditional engineering to enhance coastal resilience.
My research group focuses on physical modeling and cutting-edge AI techniques to address critical challenges in coastal engineering, sediment transport, and climate adaptation. Through extensive laboratory and field experiments, we have contributed significantly to understanding how mangroves, seagrasses, and hybrid systems can mitigate coastal hazards, promote ecological sustainability, and support urban coastal environments.
