Oceanic Evasion Fuels Arctic Summertime Rebound of Atmospheric Mercury and Drives Transport to Arctic Terrestrial Ecosystems
My name is Shaojian Huang, and I hold a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from Nanjing University. My doctoral research focused on modeling air–sea exchange of mercury (Hg), with particular emphasis on polar environments. During this work, I integrated Hg biogeochemical processes into the sea-ice module of the global 3-D ocean model MITgcm.

My research interests center on the biogeochemical cycling of persistent pollutants in polar regions, especially mercury. I am currently a visiting scholar at Tulane University, where I am expanding this work by developing Hg dynamics within CICE5, the sea-ice component of the CESM2 Earth system model.
