We will discuss our interdisciplinary and out of the box approach to assess how land management in southern Arizona affects groundwater recharge and/or the potential for enhanced recharge. We will share our process and framework for approaching this question, as well as some examples of suitable activities, including modifying vegetation density/composition, management of stream channels, and continued preservation of undeveloped landscapes. There are also ubiquitous uncertainties with considering these activities; we discuss sources of these uncertainties and how land managers can potentially get the most recharge for the least effort.
