Research now confirms that cities can initiate or modify convection, which includes rainstorms or severe weather. Since the majority of the world's population is now found in urban areas, it is important to understand how the 'urban rainfall effect' affects storm activity, flooding, agricultural productivity, and other societal challenges. From the lens of scientific research and 'so what?' this paper examines what 's next for urban rainfall research and translation of knowledge.
