Critical metals like nickel and cobalt occur in the mineral olivine, although in trace quantities. The content of these metals in olivine is variable and it depends on the geologic setting and conditions of magmatic crystallization. This work studies the occurrences of these two metals in different populations of olivine from different rocks and different settings. With the advent of new metallurgical technologies, it might be possible to extract these metals from olivine profitably.
