There is substantial evidence that soil biodiversity is degraded in forests around the world, especially in landscapes slated for reforestation. Here we test a novel approach for soil biodiversity restoration, focused on fungi. We show early results that this approach can work. We can accelerate soil fungal biodiversity recovery, while also enhancing forest productivity and carbon removal.
