The Global Carbon project regularly provides state of the art knowledge of the sources and sinks of atmospheric greenhouse gases. Here we will present the latest activity of the Global Carbon Project on methane. After carbon dioxide, methane is the second greenhouse gas contributing to climate change. The sources and sinks of methane as well as their changes over the period from 2000 to 2024 will be discussed based on an ensemble of estimates from bottom-up and top-down approaches.
