The Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) will be a large space telescope capable of detecting and directly imaging exo-Earths beyond our Solar System. HWO will also perform transformative astrophysics, including long term monitoring of ocean worlds and other planetary bodies in our Solar System. These efforts will improve our understanding of geologic activity and the habitability potential of ocean worlds from Ceres, Europa, Enceladus, and other icy moons, and icy dwarf planets in the Kuiper Belt and beyond. These observations of ocean worlds in our Solar System will be key for understanding whether cold ocean and icy exoplanets may also retain habitable environments beneath their partly or fully frozen exteriors.
