The Earth's magnetic field has weakened over time. This is causing speculation on what consequences a weakening magnetic field will have under the impact of a geomagnetic storm. We will be weakening Earth's intrinsic magnetic field strength and studying its effect on key metrics under the same geomagnetic storm. By varying the strength of Earth’s magnetic field under otherwise equivalent conditions, we can understand how the Earth-space system responds during geomagnetic storms.
