The goal of this study is to determine which equation of state models best match the observed behavior of meteorites under hypervelocity impact conditions. By benchmarking the performance of different equations of state, researchers can provide guidance on the most suitable modeling approaches for simulating meteorite impacts, which has important implications for planetary defense applications.
