A new measurement for El Nino and La Nina that accounts for a changing global climate is currently under study for seasonal prediction, but the use of this 'relative Nino-3.4 index' is not clear for projections out to the end of the 21st century. This study examines the implications of the relative Nino-3.4 index using projection data.
