This study examines the urgent needs of people in Satkania Upazila, Chattogram, Bangladesh, following severe floods in 2023. The floods badly damaged roads, houses, and local businesses, leaving many people without safe shelter or reliable ways to earn a living. To understand their most important needs, we worked with local experts, government staff, and relief groups, gathering their insights and confirming our findings with news and official data.

We found that repairing transportation routes was the top priority, closely followed by house and toilet repairs, clean drinking water, food, electricity, and medical assistance. Many families also needed help to restore their incomes and extra support for vulnerable community members.

Our assessment helps aid organizations and decision-makers identify where help is needed most, so that relief and recovery efforts can be organized quickly and effectively. By clearly showing which needs are most urgent, our study will help the community recover faster and be better prepared for future disasters.
