[ONLINE] SA51A-06: Wave forcing from above and below: detecting traveling atmospheric disturbances and defining gravity waves under differing geomagnetic and terrestrial forcing conditions
Variability in the thermosphere is common and can be linked to sources that range from the sun to the lower atmosphere. Despite continual variations and perturbations, determining sources of this variability remains elusive, especially at the smaller spatial and temporal scales. One way of studying these smaller scale fluctuations is to use far UV (FUV) emissions naturally occurring on the day side of the Earth. This research presents several observations of perturbations in FUV emissions that are directly linked to waves generated in the lower atmosphere and geomagnetic disturbances.
