This presentation describes two laser radar (lidar) systems installed on a Gulfstream V research aircraft to study the impact of thunderstorms and large convective systems on the stratosphere and the upper atmosphere. These storms produce waves that make large changes to the temperature, wind, and chemical profiles of the atmosphere.
