Marine Cloud Brightening (MCB) is a proposed method to help cool the Earth by spraying tiny sea salt particles into the air, making certain clouds brighter so they reflect more sunlight. In our study, we explored different combinations of regional MCB emissions, taking into account the importance of our goals and the efficiency of deployment. To find the optimal strategies, we statistically combined simulations from a global climate model and then tested them in the models. This analysis suggests that loosening some climate targets slightly results in MCB combinations that are more cooling per sea salt particle used. Additionally, certain constraints yield unexpected results, broadening our view on how to construct a better and more circumspect MCB strategy.
