Methane concentrations have been increasing in recent years, which is likely due to the fact that more natural sources (e.g., wetlands) are emitting more methane. While prior studies have investigated explaining the origins of methane through the use of one type of methane, we are extending this analysis by looking at two types of methane. This way, we hope to obtain a more detailed picture of methane’s behavior and its sources. If this approach does not solve the methane mystery completely, at the very least, we would learn what data would be useful for understanding and forecasting methane changes.
