In agriculture and hydrology, accurate measurement of relative permittivity is important for estimating soil moisture content. We evaluated the feasibility of using a vector network analyzer (VNA) for permittivity measurement. Measurements using various probe lengths and frequency ranges showed a logarithmic relationship between probe length and measurable frequency. Further applications will remain for future work.
