Climate change has threatened forest ecosystems via drought-induced stress. Conventional methods struggle to predict complex drought responses in heterogeneous forests. This study identifies the factors behind different drought responses within the Rocky Mountains by using vegetation indices and land surface properties to map patterns of drought-induced stress. Our work aims to shed light on how to best predict drought stress and form preventative measures to mitigate the ecological harm caused by droughts.
