In this presentation we describe the early operations of the Europa Clipper Magnetometer (ECM), activities that occurred within the first couple of months after launch. These activities include an aliveness test that was performed to verify that the instrument electronics survived launch, boom deployment, a full instrument functional test following deployment, and observations of various spacecraft and science instrument first time activities. Each activity is described in detail and examples of ECM science data will be shown where appropriate. Initial science results are presented elsewhere.
