We compare the results of a flood risk and prioritization assessment tool applied to a standard urbanizing area in the Dallas Metroplex to a more rural area that has suffered devastating floods in early July 2025 near Kerrville, TX. The results show striking differences and partially explains the flash flooding witnessed. It also highlights the need for more advanced early warning systems for flooding in specific areas identified in the tool.
