FireSat is a new satellite mission designed to improve wildfire detection and support emergency response. We have created a hotspot detection method based on existing approaches and are developing new techniques to better detect small or lower-intensity fires and reduce false alarms. We present early results from the recently launched FireSat Protoflight satellite.
