We characterized forest canopy structure (CS) with high-density UAV LIDAR. Canopy height, density, and heterogeneity metrics described age and disturbance. CS responses to changes in grain size represents a spectrum of canopy traits. Using multiple grain sizes offers deeper insights into canopy structure.
