This study looked at how well Bangkok’s water supply and sanitation systems can handle the effects of climate change. We used a special framework to assess the city's ability to provide clean water and wastewater services even during extreme weather events.

To do this, we studied the water source for Bangkok—the Chao Phraya River—by running computer models that simulate rainfall and river flow under different future climate scenarios. We also checked water quality in canals connected to the river and spoke with local water and wastewater providers to understand how the systems are currently managed.

Based on our findings, Bangkok’s water systems scored good in terms of resilience, meaning they are currently able to provide reliable service. However, challenges like too much water during storms and poor water quality could create problems in the future. To make the system stronger, we recommend protecting water sources, expanding sewer coverage, and building backup systems to keep services running during extreme events.
