Flash floods can happen quickly and without much warning, putting people and communities at serious risk. Our project is creating a smart chatbot called FLASH (Flood Level Assessment and Situational Helper) that helps people stay informed and safe. It uses real-time data from U.S. rivers and streams to spot unusual trends in water levels that might lead to flash flooding. When conditions become dangerous, the chatbot can send alerts and answer questions in everyday language. By combining flood monitoring with easy-to-understand communication, this tool aims to help people respond faster during extreme weather and reduce the chances of harm.
