Raising awareness about weather events and their impact on agriculture, and everyday life is essential for building resilient and sustainable communities in Mississippi. Through collaborations with meteorologists and regional community organizations, we have provided authentic weather data related to agricultural and aquacultural practices to local communities. This data enhances community education, supports informed decision-making, and encourages active participation in citizen science projects. We have organized teacher workshops in the region, offering hands-on, interdisciplinary activities that connect weather to daily life, agriculture, and public health. At local community events we distributed educational resources on weather awareness, citizen science, air quality, food systems, and overall wellness. Regional community partners continue to collaborate through citizen science initiatives using real-time, local data to make weather education more meaningful. To further expand access, we have compiled these educational materials and interactive resources into a publicly accessible StoryMap, serving as an open educational resource (OER) for the public. In fall 2025, we plan to extend the project to include the Gulf Coast region, promoting cross-regional collaboration and data sharing among partners in the Delta, coastal areas, and universities.
