Waves generated by charged space debris and carried by ions and electrons in the upper atmosphere, known as solitons, can potentially be used for the advanced detection of sub-centimeter debris. Using 2-dimensional simulations, different conditions corresponding to a range of space environments are investigated. The results show interesting trends, especially with the introduction of a magnetic field that is at an angle with the debris motion direction. This effort will help understand the viability of using solitons to detect debris in orbital conditions.
