Understanding how river deltas change over time is important for protecting coastal ecosystems, communities, and infrastructure. In this study, we used a combination of advanced technologies such as hyperspectral imaging, LiDAR, and marine geophysical methods to study the surface and subsurface features of the Birdsfoot Delta in southeastern coastal Louisiana. Our approach allowed us to collect detailed data about the delta without disturbing the environment. By analyzing patterns in vegetation, soil, and sediment layers, we were able to classify the vegetation types and identify areas where material is building up or washing away. This information helps us better understand how the delta is evolving and provides valuable insights for managing land loss, coastal restoration, and flood protection efforts in the future.
