The dayside magnetosphere serves as the gate for energy entering into Earth’s magnetosphere. This solar wind-magnetosphere interaction is composed of numerous kinetic and fluid processes across regions from the bow shock to the inner magnetosphere/ionosphere. We encourage contributions spanning all dayside interactions. Examples include investigations of kinetic physics, such as waves, turbulence, reconnection and transient phenomena at the shock, magnetosheath, magnetopause, inner magnetosphere, and cusp. As well, examinations of the multi-scale coupling between dayside regions, such as mechanisms that drive the outer magnetosphere variations (e.g, changes in the solar wind, foreshock phenomena), and how they are manifested in the magnetosphere/ionosphere (generations of waves/outflow/precipitation, adjustments of reconnection/field-aligned current/aurora/convection, etc.) are welcomed. We invite studies based on existing mission observations, foreseen mission plans, ground-based observations, theoretical models and simulations. Our session aims to provide a platform to advance understanding of dayside solar-terrestrial interactions from both fundamental micro-mechanisms and the big picture.
