Snow accumulation and melt dynamics are highly sensitive to climate variability and change, and climate-driven changes in snowpack have an array of consequences for ecosystem function, energy and water resources, flood planning, and land-atmosphere feedbacks. While climate-driven changes in snowpack are increasingly apparent, remaining uncertainties exist in snowpack impacts from interactions between climate and landcover change (including disturbance impacts), climate and snow model structure and parameters, internal variability, future climate scenarios, spatiotemporal scaling issues, consequences for ecosystem health and water availability, and the translation of this information to stakeholders. In this session, we solicit research across watershed to global scales, evaluating snowpack sensitivity to the impacts of historic and future climate change and associated consequences for natural and managed systems. We welcome analyses that leverage remote sensing data, multi-scale modeling approaches, data science and statistical tools, automated and field observations, and/or other approaches (e.g., community science, scientist-stakeholder interactions).
