Continued and evolving advancements in watershed modeling are needed to address concerns related to water availability (quantity and quality) by providing accurate and timely information to scientists, managers, and policy makers aiming to understand and secure water for human use and ecosystem function. This session seeks interdisciplinary discussion of modeling developments and their applications to solve water-management-related problems across a broad range of environmental, societal, spatial, and temporal settings. We invite contributions focused on innovations in the development of new, or improvements to existing, hydrologic or water-quality models (e.g., representation of water demand and consumption, incorporation of lag times and processes, dealing with impacts of climate and land use changes) and/or novel uses of models to support water management and communication. This session welcomes research using the wide range of modeling methods including statistical, process-based, and hybrid approaches.
