The aurora provides an observable and dynamic manifestation of space weather and magnetospheric processes. Recent advances in our understanding of the coupling between the magnetosphere and auroral dynamics have opened new perspectives on the plasma transport, precipitation and current system that characterize auroral formation and evolution. The magnetospheric drivers that govern auroral features, such as substorms, storms; steady-state auroral oval structures; and pulsating aurora remain an area of active investigation. This session will focus on contributions offering new insights into how magnetospheric dynamics influence the spatial and temporal evolution of precipitation and aurora. We encourage contributions that discuss the following topics (but not limited to): Magnetosphere-Ionosphere Coupling, substorm and storm dynamics, precipitation and aurora, magnetic field and current system, and cross-scale coupling. We encourage submissions that employ a variety of methods, including observational studies, numerical simulations, and theoretical models, to advance our understanding of auroral dynamics from a magnetospheric perspective.
