Monitoring snow water equivalent (SWE) in global seasonal snowpacks at daily repeat cycles remains an unsolved challenge in hydrology. The extent and magnitude of seasonal snowpacks are decreasing globally, even as populations continue to increase demand from these natural reservoirs. Additional snow properties such as depth or albedo provide critical information for research and management applications. This session will focus on remote sensing of seasonal snow and snow properties from spaceborne, airborne (crewed/uncrewed aircraft), and ground-based platforms. We especially welcome presentations emphasizing techniques for wet snow, a pressing challenge in our changing cryosphere. Other topics include instrument and platform development, new and historical observations, analysis methods and techniques, scientific and operational applications, and model integration and validation. We encourage submissions of different sensor types (e.g., radar, lidar, optical), techniques (e.g., imaging spectroscopy, photogrammetry, interferometry) and applications to retrieve snow properties at various spatial scales in all regions across the planet.
