Southeast Asia is home to one-fifth of the world’s population. This region and the adjacent Indian and Pacific Oceans (Indo-Pacific) host climate phenomena across various timescales. Due to anthropogenic warming, the Indo-Pacific has experienced changes in its mean and variability, including increased extreme events. However, future climate and environmental changes in Southeast Asia are poorly constrained due to the region’s dynamic complexity and limited observations. Future climate uncertainties present challenges in policy-making and sustainable development. We invite submissions exploring various aspects of the past, present, and future climate of Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific. This includes studies using paleoclimate reconstructions, observations, climate models, statistical methods, novel analytical techniques, and machine learning. We also promote work that bridges the gap between research and policymaking for real-world impact. Topics may include, but are not limited to, climate dynamics, extreme events, sea-level change, Asian monsoon, teleconnections, climate change impacts, urban climate, and geohealth.
