Tethered Aerosystems are being developed and tested to increase community access to atmospheric and in-situ observations through affordable kite- and balloon-based collection. Innovations in tethered aerosystems allow us to better understand atmospheric data and our environment across the globe. Instrumented kites, tethered balloons, and free balloons are enabled by modern materials and sensors, with recent developments and field deployments producing exciting results. These are resourceful tools for photogrammetry, atmospheric data collection, and boundary-layer research. Engineering and applied efforts, combined with research applications, are a focus. Discussion of concepts, prototype testing, and results are welcome - join us!
