Data synthesis and data-driven analyses offer tremendous opportunities for fundamental knowledge gain without incurring the typically high costs of marine data acquisition. Over the past several decades, there have been numerous coordinated efforts to gather and curate marine data in public repositories. These efforts have become increasingly important with the rise of AI/ML technologies, which rely on the availability of high-quality data. Rescuing and ingesting legacy datasets is another emerging priority, partly due to future funding and field platform uncertainties (e.g., R/V Marcus Langseth). For this session, we seek contributions that highlight efforts to synthesize, curate, and/or analyze large marine geological and geophysical datasets, with a focus on regional or global data coverage. Studies related to legacy data rescue, novel data integration methods, data analytics, and geospatial machine learning are particularly welcome. Submissions should focus on marine geological and geophysical data, e.g., samples, drilling, seismic imaging, and potential fields.
