Geoscience and the creative arts are integrally connected, with artists drawing inspiration and media from Earth systems and geoscientists using creative approaches to communicate and understand complex geological phenomena. This session aims to stimulate discussion about participants’ perspectives with this intersection, plan future steps for enriching interdisciplinary initiatives and collaborations, and cultivate creativity within geoscientists and the geoscientific within creative artists.AudienceWe invite anyone who is excited to explore ways that geoscience and creative arts enrich one another, whether you are an artist, geoscientist, or both!Objectives-Share our preliminary vision for a centralized community for people engaged at the intersections of geoscience and the arts-Solicit participant perspectives on how geoscience and the arts influence one another, including within primary research, scientific communication, and engaging underserved communities in geoscience-Provide opportunities for artists, creators, geoscientists, and geo-artists to connect-Share resources and opportunities to get started in geocreativity and for geoscientists and artists to support each others’ initiatives-Gauge participant interest in forming an AGU section for geocreativityPlease join us for this opportunity to strengthen the connection between the creative arts and geosciences.
