Geodynamic and tectonic processes are key drivers shaping the structural, thermal, and petrological configuration of the lithosphere. Supporting the transition to sustainable, low-carbon economies — at scale and economically — poses both challenges and opportunities for the global geoscience community. An integrated and interdisciplinary understanding of subsurface processes is needed to improve identification of viable economic resources across the geothermal, geologic/natural hydrogen, and energy-critical mineral industries. However, integrated science-backed exploration strategies are often absent or underdeveloped. This session aims to improve our scientific understanding of the integrated geodynamic and tectonic processes relevant to geothermal energy, geologic/natural hydrogen and helium, and energy-critical mineral deposits. We invite studies based on observational data analysis, instrumentation, numerical modelling, laboratory experiments, and geological engineering —particularly those that emphasize integrated approaches of systems. We are also interested in strategies involved in decision-making, engineering, and policy requirements needed to facilitate the discovery and development of economic resources.
