Have you ever felt in the dark about the next steps of your career and wondered how to position yourself for future opportunities? The path through academia can be confusing, filled with unwritten rules, strategic networking, and the challenge of balancing professional and personal aspirations. This panel, organized by the AGU Hydrology Section Student Subcommittee (AGU-H3S), aims to offer guidance to early-career researchers on how to navigate critical academic transitions. Panelists at different career stages will share insights on identifying potential references, wrapping up projects while transitioning to a new position, building a strong CV and application, and effectively networking. Time will be set aside at the end of the session for attendees to ask panelists about their own experiences and challenges. Whether you are planning your next career move or simply looking to better understand the academic landscape, this panel can provide actionable strategies to support your journey.
