Precipitation is not just a weather event—it is a key variable that shapes decisions across science, society, and the economy. This town hall, organized by the Students and Early Career Scientists Subcommittee (ECSPrecip) of the AGU Precipitation Technical Committee, invites an engaging conversation with diverse users of precipitation data to explore how these data are applied beyond science, in alignment with AGU’s 2025 theme, “Where Science Connects Us.” Three panelists from different sectors and at various career stages (early, middle, and senior career) will share their professional and personal experiences applying precipitation data in a variety of fields. The panel discussion includes sharing their insights on the value of precipitation data in their sectors, how they communicate with scientists in the field of precipitation, and the skills needed to effectively collaborate with people in different fields and build effective cross-disciplinary partnership. A Q&A session is followed by the panel discussion to promote audience interactions, address their queries and provide networking opportunities. Since the session focuses on interdisciplinary works and effective collaboration between different sectors, researchers from all disciplines interested in career development are welcome to attend and connect with like-minded researchers.
