As climate change continues to impact weather patterns and increase the frequency of extreme weather events, it is crucial for utilities to integrate climate analysis into their infrastructure planning and design processes. This Town Hall session will bring together experts from PG&E and other leading utilities to discuss the latest advancements in using climate data to update electric asset design standards and conducting comprehensive Climate Vulnerability Assessments.Session Objectives: Highlight the Importance of Climate Data: Discuss the critical role of climate analysis in enhancing the resilience and reliability of electric infrastructure.Share Best Practices: Present examples of how utilities are successfully integrating climate data into their planning functions, from asset design to vulnerability assessments.Foster Collaboration: Encourage dialogue and collaboration among utilities, researchers, and policymakers to develop innovative solutions for climate adaptation.Identify Challenges and Opportunities: Explore the challenges utilities face in implementing climate-informed design standards and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in Climate Research to be more directly applicable for engineering and design guidelines.
