During her career, Jan Tullis (1943-2024) shaped much of our understanding of the deformation mechanisms in felsic rocks in Earth’s continental crust. She along with her students, postdocs and collaborators published landmark experimental studies of the deformation mechanisms, textures and rheology of quartzites, feldspars, granites, gneisses, syndeformational reactions and melt migration mechanisms in the continental crust. We encourage contributions from experimental, field-based and theoretical studies that expand and build on this body of research. We especially encourage graduate and undergraduate students to contribute to this session.
