Deep Earth processes control the geological evolution, including the formation of mineral system, natural disasters, and large-scale environmental changes at the surface of the Earth. In the past decades, there have been many deep Earth exploration programs conducted globally. They bring rich geological records detailing the formation, reworking, and potential destruction of continental crust and lithosphere. This session will focus on deep exploration within the lithosphere, covering the structure, composition, processes, and deep material cycling in deep Earth. It aims to advance our understanding of the Earth's interior and its dynamic interactions, through the integrative techniques, including deep seismic reflection and refraction profiling, broadband and dense seismic array observations, MT, scientific drilling, deep material detecting, isotopic mapping, geodynamic modelling and etc. This session will provide valuable insights into the deep time evolution of continental lithosphere, from the formation of core continents, to the controlling of shallow crust and mineral systems.
