Presenter(s):
Joe Westlake, NASA Headquarters

Primary Convener:
Denise Hill, NASA Headquarters

Possibly the most undisputed connection across all of humanity is that to which we owe our very existence – the Sun. Since the dawn of life on Earth, our star has connected us by defining day and night, seasons, and passage of time. As a modern, technologically dependent society, we are increasingly connected not just by the Sun’s existence, but by its invincible forces that impact our daily lives. The United States’ space weather program has made significant progress in space weather prediction and characterization capabilities in recent decades. As the research arm of the national space weather enterprise, NASA’s Heliophysics Division will share progress in cutting edge space weather research and implications for prediction, characterization, and mitigation advances, with a focus on societal impacts that affect global defense and communications systems, power grids, air travel, agriculture, and more.
