Complex human-Earth systems cannot be fully understood through a siloed, single disciplinary lens. Researchers engaging in the most difficult questions come from a variety of disciplines and often have learned to work across disciplines. How do we prepare the next generation of scientific leadership to meet these increasingly interconnected, transdisciplinary challenges? This session focuses on real-world examples and research on early career development in the engineering, physical, and social science fields for transdisciplinary research on complex human-Earth systems. We welcome abstracts that describe successful early career programs and networks, survey existing coursework, summarize best practices in professional development, describe challenges and opportunities for multi-team transdisciplinary collaboration, or present other relevant research.
