Demand for mineral resources, such as copper, nickel, and lithium, is projected to increase dramatically to support renewable energy infrastructure and electric vehicles. Ensuring this demand is met in a sustainable manner has become a global priority, especially as growing geopolitical uncertainty threatens to disrupt already fragile supply chains. This session will explore the latest advancements across geoscience, geophysics, AI, policy, and stakeholder engagement that can inform sustainable resource planning and operations. We invite contributions that bridge traditional disciplinary and institutional boundaries in: (1) data-driven approaches to mineral exploration and resource characterization; (2) sustainable extraction, processing, and strategic supply chain planning; and (3) cross-sector collaboration in policymaking, governance, and technology development to boost resilient critical mineral supplies. By bringing together experts from Earth sciences, data sciences, and social sciences, this session aims to catalyze research collaborations and build practical frameworks that strengthen responsible and resilient mineral supply chains.
