Data and information management, discovery, access, integration, analysis, and visualization are essential to the scientific process, regardless of discipline. Geoscience Informatics sits at the intersection of information, computer, and library sciences, and the domain-specific Earth  and space sciences. As a discipline in its own right, it is concerned with the use of data-centric and computational approaches to address complex geoscience questions. The AGU Informatics section focuses on the emerging topics and challenges associated with transforming geoscience data into knowledge, including FAIR infrastructure, Big Data, data ethics, and the use of AI/ML. Our section is a cross-disciplinary community within AGU and serves as a bridge between science disciplines and the information technology community. Building on the success of prior Town Halls, we invite those involved with, or curious about, informatics and data science to join in the discussion. Topics will include updates from Section leadership about the state of the section, ongoing work, recent committee activities and emerging collaborations, and open mic time. This Town Hall provides an opportunity to contribute to the future work of Informatics in AGU by providing your input as well as learning how to get more involved in the community.
