Observations of atmospheric composition by satellite-based instruments have reached new heights over the past several decades. Sensors in low Earth orbit have been tracking atmospheric composition across the globe and providing major advances in how we monitor air pollutants, forecast air quality, and understand climate trends. Recently launched instruments in geostationary orbit are enabling a revolution in atmospheric composition research that is enhancing our understanding of the fundamentals of the physics and chemistry of the atmosphere from timescales of hours to decades. This town hall will convene a panel representing current and proposed national and international atmospheric composition satellite missions. The panel will highlight advancements from current missions, share goals for proposed missions, and engage the audience in a discussion of successes, challenges, and hopes for the future.
