Frontline communities are those that face the first and worst impacts of climate change, and are in a state of active resistance to movements of oppression and cultural erasure. This session considers the overall question of how are frontline communities adapting to climate change, environmental degradation, and other systemic forces of change that impact them? We aim to highlight frontline practice across disciplines and institutions, creating a space for community, networking, and shared-learning between parties engaged in this work. The session is interested in narrative, theory, empirical research, and practice related to frontline community existence, resistance, advocacy, and ability to thrive in the 21st century and beyond. We welcome submissions emphasizing multidisciplinary approaches and multi-stakeholder collaborations, storytelling and narrative, empirical quantitative or qualitative research, case studies, and other contributions, particularly those utilizing community-led and community-based approaches to these themes and challenges.
