Supported by the GEO Earth Observations for Health (EO4Health) Initiative, the GEO Health Community of Practice (CoP) serves as a global network of governments, organizations, and observers who use environmental observations to improve health decision-making at international, regional, country, and district levels. They foster the development of integrated information systems that improve the capacity to predict, respond to, and reduce environmental-related health risks as well as support stakeholder communication for decision-making and response efforts. To address emerging One Health challenges – like poor air and water quality, climate-sensitive infectious diseases, extreme heat, food insecurity, and unprepared health systems – six working groups help engage health partners, manage observation and prediction gaps, and clarify health and training needs. This townhall session will provide a platform for members of the Earth science and public health communities to leverage global expertise and share open science resources. This collective dialogue will highlight environmental health research and practice gaps, where Earth observations can help inform early warning to early action and disaster risk reduction and support evidence-based solutions for community applications.
