Floods, hurricanes, wildfires, droughts, and other weather-related extremes of recent years have increased public demand for information about climate risks. Water and electricity sectors are increasingly engaged in adaptation planning. Businesses and financial entities that have not traditionally considered climate change now want to assess their climate risk. All this demand has spurred an increase in climate services technology, as witnessed by the rapid growth in public and private sector entities offering a myriad of climate analytics. In this session we will collectively discuss challenges and opportunities within this growing climate analytics ecosystem to better understand what is needed from both climate data providers and users. We will invite climate analytics innovators to share their approaches, those who use climate analytics to share use cases, and all presenters to offer lessons learned that help us better understand how to meet the growing demand for climate change information and decision support.
